Columbia’s Capstone class was visited by police officers, Andrew Hearst and Ryan Mele, on September 23, 2015, to help the seniors discover the problems in Columbia's neighborhood. After a lengthy discussion of the main issues, the class went out to Glisan Street with the officers to aim their infrared laser radar guns at oncoming cars. Students were entertained watching the cars slow down remarkably when they approached the class and then increasing their speed as they got away from the gun. The seniors say it was definitely a memorable experience and was helpful for their research.
