The Columbia Christian PreK program is designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment that allows children to gain an appreciation of their world and others around them through guided discovery as well as large and small group interactions. These experiences will provide developmentally appropriate activities where the child is an active participant in the learning process. We believe that young children learn best through intentional hands-on experiences and that students gain valuable skills through meaningful play. Our child-centered program encourages curiosity, discovery, and problem-solving.
Our half-day PreK program provides an encouraging learning environment for 3-to 5-year olds. Children must be at least 36 months of age and fully potty-trained to enter our program.
The class meets on weekdays (Monday through Friday) from 8:00am to 11:30am. The school year typically runs from early-September through mid-June.
Kindergarten is an important time of learning and growth for young children. Columbia Christian teachers recognize the importance of the transition for this age group into a structured educational setting. The Kindergarten class provides a positive environment for children to interact with their peers, receive specialized instruction, and develop the skills required for advancement to 1st grade. To supplement the class curriculum, students participate in directed learning centers, PE class, music class, art class, library instruction, weekly school-wide chapel, and field trips.
Columbia's Kindergarten class follows the same schedule as the elementary school: meeting on weekdays (Monday-Friday) from 8:00am to 3:00pm. Extended Day options are available for students from Kindergarten through 8th grade.
